Down with Expansionism ! ANNISU(Revolutionary) Leads Call to Defend Nepals Territory

The All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), the student wing of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), has issued a scathing press statement condemning a recent bilateral trade agreement between India and China that allegedly involves the use of Nepal’s territory in the Lipulekh region without the consent of the Nepali government

In a statement released by Sandip Pun, Vice Chairman of ANNISU (Revolutionary) and Head of its International Department, the student union described the agreement as an “outrageous violation” of Nepal’s sovereignty and an affront to international law.

“Lipulekh is Nepal’s territory—historically, geographically, and politically,” the statement asserts, rejecting any bilateral deals between foreign powers that exclude Nepal from negotiations involving its own land.
The union invoked Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, which prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, arguing that the India-China deal disregards this fundamental international principle.
ANNISU (Revolutionary) accused both India and China of treating Nepal as a pawn in their geopolitical strategies, warning that such actions could provoke strong resistance from the Nepali people.

“This deal exposes the hegemonistic arrogance of expansionist powers… The Nepali people have never bowed down to foreign domination,”

Pun said The union demanded that the Government of Nepal take immediate diplomatic and legal action by raising the issue at the United Nations and other international forums. It also urged global democratic forces, youth organizations, and international allies to denounce what it called a violation of Nepal’s sovereign rights.
The Lipulekh region, a strategically important Himalayan pass near the tri-junction of Nepal, India, and China, has been a point of contention in Nepal’s foreign relations. In the past, India has constructed roads and engaged in agreements with China involving the area, drawing protests from Kathmandu.

While official details of the recent trade agreement between India and China are yet to be fully disclosed, reports suggest it includes provisions for transit and trade routes passing through Lipulekh—without prior consultation with Nepal.

The student union’s statement reflects growing discontent among sections of Nepal’s population who view the agreement as a direct challenge to Nepal’s territorial integrity. Activists and political leaders are now calling for nationwide protests and stronger diplomatic resistance.
